More Vortex Parts

This week more parts were coming in that I will be placing on the Vortex to upgrade and possibly make it lighter.  The first thing to arrive actually came in a couple weeks ago.

FSA SL-K Carbon Bar 740mm width.

On Thursday when we got home from mom's I found a package from Jenson USA.

In it was:

Zee Rear Shifter, 10 speed.

SLX Medium Cage Rear Derailleur, 10 speed.

Sram 10 speed chain.

Still waiting for the new chainring and expander cog for the cassette.  The cog will give me an 11-42 cassette and the gear range I am looking for.  After that the only change I would consider is going 11 speed.

Ore to Shore: So we talked to the kids at dinner the other night and neither of them want to do Ore to Shore this year.  I still would like to, it is a great race and very fun.  Time will tell.

Winter: Our winter has been very strange with little snow and not a lot of cold weather.  Yesterday we set record highs and today is going to be very warm (53). Looks like it will cool back off by next weekend.  Just nothing like the last several winters we have had.  Not sure I will be riding in any snow till next winter.

Enjoy your weekend and get out and ride if you can.

Summer Vacation: Day 10, Heading Home.

Sunday would be a long day of travel as we would make the trek home in one day.  Still shorter than driving from Marquette. We had breakfast and started to pack up.  I had put the bikes on the van Saturday evening while the grill was heating up and loaded a few things up.  We managed to get on the around just a few minutes after 12:00pm.   Michelle would take the first leg of the drive at the wheel of the van and I would rest.  We made a stop at a rest area in Manistique and I took a few photos. A lighthouse for Michelle.  A mouse in a tuxedo! We got back on the road and stopped at another rest area.   Very cool! Brendan made a friend. The were not to bad. Our next stop would be St. Ignace.  We wanted to eat at Clyde's Drive In.  However, after arriving the place was packed.  So we went to B.C. Pizza again.  After lunch we made our way to Castle Rock as we were not able to climb it on o...

End of Summer

The Best Time to Bike! On Saturday I traveled with Raymond to the Bear Claw Epic.  This was the second annual race and the second time up there for Raymond and I.  We got there with plenty of time to spare and got ready to go. Farley ready to go. I registered for Beginner Fat Bike or at least I thought so?  I felt pretty good and knowing that I only had one lap to do I went all out.  I passed several riders through the race and felt I did pretty good.  This course has a lot of climbing and rewards you with some nice downhills. After I finished my race I put on a fresh shirt and went out on the course with the camera and my new lens.  I took over 400 pictures and headed back to the start finish after Raymond finished his race. Raymond on his second lap. And the final climb. The beginner awards were going on and they announced my name as first place for Beginner Men 50-59.  I was surprised, but did not protest.  Aft...
