Thanksgiving and More!

Thanksgiving has come and gone.  We are now full on into the Christmas rush.  So let me bring you up to date.

The forecast for Thanksgiving was for some snow.  So I went and got mom and dad for the celebration and it did snow.  We had the entire family over and it was a full house.  We all enjoyed a delicious meal and the Lion's even won!

The men are relaxing.

Mom's hitting the bottle!

Everyone cleared out around 9pm or so.  Michelle and I then went through the Black Friday adds in preparation of our shopping trip.

We were up early and made it to the Family Chirstian Book Store around 6:15am.  We then went to Sam's and Walmart.  We stopped and ate to fuel up for the next round.  Well the next round did not happen and we went home for a nap.  I woke up after a short nap and unloaded most of the goodies. We then started working around the house in preperation of setting up the Christmas Tree.

The four day weekend flew by and we were back to work.

The time since Thanksgiving has passed quickly.  Something is going on every weekend and a lot of the week days.

On Saturday Michelle and I went on a really fun date.  We had dinner at Jake's in Saginaw and then went to see the play, "A Miracle on 34th Street" at the Saginaw Pit and Balcony.  It was really good and one of the best dates we have ever had.

On Sunday we celebrated Mom's (Sherry) birthday at our house.  The entire family was here for that also.  After the party Michelle and I went to Sears in Saginaw to purchase a new refrigerator.  Ours died on Saturday.

This week is busy again.  JJ's Christmas Concert is tomorrow night.  Friday evening is a Christmas Party for Michelle's work put on by the Medical Director of the lab.  On Saturday we have her mom's family party and aunt Sandy and uncle Don's.  It is always a good time. Then on Sunday JJ has a concert in Standish with the East Shore Symphony.  He was selected for the honors band.

We have somehow managed to get enough wood cut for the winter and will continue to work on this over the winter.  We have several ash trees down at the rental and I want to get that cleaned up before spring.  I may start going into work early once a week so I can go to the house and work for a while after work.  This will make the Saturday work a little easier.

That pretty much brings us up to date for now.  So see you after Christmas!

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather.  We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing.  I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River.  I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name.  I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us.  Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up.  I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi.  An invasive species of the Great Lakes. After a few minutes I started back to the house.  On the way I started to have some chest pain.  After showering it had not let up. ...

Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence.  I got a short ride in on Friday morning.  We then were preparing for a wedding.  Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house.  Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography.  This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out.  It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends.   You may kiss the bride!   We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening.  We got home late and went right to bed.   I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France.  It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race.  I then ventured out on a 23 mile ride o...

They come in several colors. These are red and will go on the wheels that I have on the Vortex.  They are light weight, easy to work with and very durable.  I have these in various colors on most of my fat bike wheels.   Topeak Joe Blow Fat Tire Pump:  Following is from the Topeak Website: JoeBlow™ Fat The first floor pump exclusively designed for low pressure fat tire bikes.
