Father's Day 2015

We had a very nice Father's Day today.  I received some nice gifts from my family and we officially started our vacation.

We started the day with a nice breakfast prepared by Michelle.  Then we went to church and had a nice service.  There were several guests in attendance.  After church we went to Bagger Dave's, JJ' treat. After church we went home and took a short nap.

After our nap we started packing for vacation.  We finally left the house somewhere around 7:30pm.
Upon arrival to Outdoor Adventure we discovered this.

The Fat Bike came off the bike rack on the back of the van.  It was pulled down the road a ways.  Tomorrow I will be making a trip back home to pick up parts and rebuild.  Fortunately it was not the Farley!

After unloading and getting things in the cabin we discovered that the futon in the cabin does not fold into a bed.  So we moved a bed from the loft to the first floor and set up a little bedroom.  I think this is going to work out.

The trip home can have some positives as we forgot a TV and DVD player for the kids.  It is a plus to get them settled in at night.

Michelle's parents will be coming down tomorrow also for dinner.  So we will be having a family celebration.

Things will get better!

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather.  We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing.  I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River.  I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name.  I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us.  Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up.  I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi.  An invasive species of the Great Lakes. After a few minutes I started back to the house.  On the way I started to have some chest pain.  After showering it had not let up. ...

Summer Vacation: Day 8, Marquette

Day out started out cool, cloudy and windy.  It would stay like that the entire day.  After Michelle got up we took a little walk in the park by the bay.  It was very cool and returned to the house.  The plan for the day was to go to Marquette to visit Raymond and his family and have dinner with them. I received a text from Raymond that informed me the weather was not good there and it had not been for the entire week.  It had been very cold and windy.  He told me to bring warm clothes and we would probably be inside. We arrived at there location just after 3:00pm and it was cold and windy.  They told us it had been worse earlier in the day.  After talking for a while Angel started to make burgers and hot dogs on the grill.  We walked down to the beach with Raymond to discover that the beach was not really there.  The water has been so high this year and the waves were coming in so hard there was no beach.  They said they h...

Dakine Mission Photo 25L Introduction

Dakine Mission Photo 25L! I picked up this photo bag on Jenson USA for $39.99, retail is $150.  This will replace my current bag and is much more user friendly at first glance.  The first thing that I liked is the shoulder straps which are much more ergonomic than the bag it replaces.  The other part that I like is that the camera block is removable. Front View Back and shoulder straps. The organizer pocket. This area has many spaces for pens and other things.  The large pocket should hold my RCA Cambio! Removable camera block. Side pocket storage. Tripod holder. I will be putting this to use and will update after I have truly put it into service.
