After Thanksgiving

So we all survived Thanksgiving and Black Friday.  Thanksgiving was a lot of work, but all worth while to have the family here and celebrate what God has so graciously given us.  We were only missing Scott and MacKenzie as they were with their dad for the holiday.

It was a great day with everyone.  Micah had prepared a letter that he read to all of us.  It was very touching and from the heart.  Before we knew it time was up and Michelle and I were heading for bed as the boys spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa.  Watch out Black Friday.

Friday morning came early, I did not sleep well.  I made some breakfast and we were in line at Sam's Club at 6:30am for the opening.  We got in on the first wave and starting picking out our goods.  We were done at 7:30am.  Next stop was Walmart then we spent a great deal of time at Sears.  We then went and had lunch at Genji's!  That recharged us for a while and we made a short stop at Kohl's.  We headed home and took a well deserved and needed nap.  Afterwards we did some work around the house and the boys spent another night at Grandma's.  This then led to Saturday shopping.  Michelle and I split up to conquer this and met for lunch in Clio.  I then headed home to work on fire wood.  It was another long day.

Sunday we went to church and then came home and did a little house work again to wrap up the weekend.

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather.  We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing.  I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River.  I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name.  I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us.  Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up.  I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi.  An invasive species of the Great Lakes. After a few minutes I started back to the house.  On the way I started to have some chest pain.  After showering it had not let up. ...

They come in several colors. These are red and will go on the wheels that I have on the Vortex.  They are light weight, easy to work with and very durable.  I have these in various colors on most of my fat bike wheels.   Topeak Joe Blow Fat Tire Pump:  Following is from the Topeak Website: JoeBlow™ Fat The first floor pump exclusively designed for low pressure fat tire bikes. Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence.  I got a short ride in on Friday morning.  We then were preparing for a wedding.  Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house.  Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography.  This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out.  It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends.   You may kiss the bride!   We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening.  We got home late and went right to bed.   I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France.  It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race.  I then ventured out on a 23 mile ride o...
