2012 Vacation Day 1

Today we started our vacation. We got a late start today as we had a lot to do. Yesterday we cooked, cleaned and packed. This morning we finished up and headed out around 12:45pm. We stopped at mom and dad's in Auburn to have lunch with them and check on them before leaving. We were back on the road around 2:30pm and headed for Hillman.

We got to the Thunderbay Resort around 5:00pm and checked in. We made our way to our suite and unloaded everything that we needed for our 3 day stay. We then went to Alpena to eat at JJ's Steak and Pizza House. We ordered Pizza which included salad bar and filled up. I would highly recommend this restaurant, one of the best pizzas I have ever had. After filling up we went to Walmart and did a little shopping before heading back to the resort.

We returned to the resort and drove around a bit. I was scouting out where I can get a ride in for the morning. While doing this we came across some wildlife.

These three little bucks watched us for as long as we sat there in the van. They would all be 1 1/2 years old. They were accomapanied by this doe (below).

Before we seen these 4 we seen a doe and 2 fawns. They got in the woods before we could get the camera out. On the way out they were out by the roadside again. I got this picture of one of the fawns by itself.

I then got this picture of the doe with her other fawn (fawn is behind her and just left).

The tall weed and mom almost conceal the fawn.

So we called it a night and headed back to our room. I did see some 2 track that looked promising for a morning ride. I will get ready and stop at the front desk to make sure it is not private property and get more information on what is around here. Till tomorrow have a great night.

Introducing!

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather. We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing. I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River. I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name. I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us. Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up. I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi. An invasive species of the Great Lakes. Vacation 2016, Day 5

Got a little behind here with downloading photos and our last travel day. So going to catch up over the next couple days. When I wrap up with the final day I will also give out some of my opinion on the venues we were at. Day 5 (Thursday) was definitely the best day of our vacation. Michelle, Brenda and I were the first ones up and we went down to iHop, which was in the lobby of the hotel. We quickly discovered how expensive it is to eat in Canada. Breakfast was very good, however seemed to be twice as much as we would spend at home. We took our leftovers back to the rooms and Jay Jay and Kayla ate, then we headed out. Walking from the hotel the falls were only 10-15 minutes away. The city of Niagara Falls, Canada is very nice, the sun was out and the temperature was perfect. Great weather for a walk around town.
