2012 Vacation Day 1

Today we started our vacation. We got a late start today as we had a lot to do. Yesterday we cooked, cleaned and packed. This morning we finished up and headed out around 12:45pm. We stopped at mom and dad's in Auburn to have lunch with them and check on them before leaving. We were back on the road around 2:30pm and headed for Hillman.

We got to the Thunderbay Resort around 5:00pm and checked in. We made our way to our suite and unloaded everything that we needed for our 3 day stay. We then went to Alpena to eat at JJ's Steak and Pizza House. We ordered Pizza which included salad bar and filled up. I would highly recommend this restaurant, one of the best pizzas I have ever had. After filling up we went to Walmart and did a little shopping before heading back to the resort.

We returned to the resort and drove around a bit. I was scouting out where I can get a ride in for the morning. While doing this we came across some wildlife.

These three little bucks watched us for as long as we sat there in the van. They would all be 1 1/2 years old. They were accomapanied by this doe (below).

Before we seen these 4 we seen a doe and 2 fawns. They got in the woods before we could get the camera out. On the way out they were out by the roadside again. I got this picture of one of the fawns by itself.

I then got this picture of the doe with her other fawn (fawn is behind her and just left).

The tall weed and mom almost conceal the fawn.

So we called it a night and headed back to our room. I did see some 2 track that looked promising for a morning ride. I will get ready and stop at the front desk to make sure it is not private property and get more information on what is around here. Till tomorrow have a great night.

Easter

Easter has come and gone. It was a very busy couple of days. We started out with Brendan getting very sick Wednesday night. Luckily he was feeling better on Friday and we were able to enjoy the holiday.. Mom and Dad came out on Saturday. We met them at Backwood's and had a late lunch. We then came back to our house to color eggs and visit. Mom's Work Mom also brought this with her. This was my grandmother's Lutheran Hymnal. It was given to her on her confirmation. It is over 100 years old and in German. Mom also has her bible. She is giving this to Amelith Lutheran Church. We all had a really good time and it was a full day. On Sunday we went to church and then to Michelle's mom and dad's for a late lunch and the annual easter egg hunt. The kids had fun as always. We had a really good meal then Michelle and I took a 2+ mile walk...

Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence. I got a short ride in on Friday morning. We then were preparing for a wedding. Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house. Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography. This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out. It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends. You may kiss the bride! We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening. We got home late and went right to bed. I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France. It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race. Mother's Day Part II

On Sunday we celebrated Mother's Day at Church followed by a buffet at the Whistle Stop in Clio. It was a very good meal and fun for all. The Bauer's The Garcia's The Cody's minus Tyler Then we celebrated at our house with Michelle's family in the evening with another big feast. Help Yourselves! A good time was had by all and one of the best Mother's Day celebrations yet. Happy Mother's Day, we love you all!
