Vacation 2016, Days 3 and 4

Day 3 was very uneventful.  We spent the entire day at the Resort.  Spent the first part of the day by the outdoor pool.  The second half was spent in the arcade (read that as kid Casino!).  We got to bed at a decent time so we could get on the road the next day.

Day 4 was mostly travel.  We had a light breakfast in the room and then packed to head out.  We stopped at a rest area that had a scenic view.

Very steep cliff down to the river bottom.

We got back on the road and soon we were on the highway through Cleveland.  First time that I seen this.

Heavy traffic through downtown and shortly after getting out of town we stopped and had a quick lunch at Burger King.  We got back on the road and Michelle took one of her famous vacation road trip maps.

Everyone but me missed this!

And this!

We were soon into New York and stopped at a Travel Center to stretch our legs.  We then headed for downtown Buffalo and did some walking around the center of town.  We spent around an hour downtown and then headed for dinner.

The town sqaure (really a circle)!

Stature of Grover Cleveland (very confusing that we find him in Buffalo?)

Incredible carvings everywhere!

Buffalo Fire Department Headquarters.

Beautiful Clock Tower!

It was time to eat so on a recommendation from a friend that lives in Buffalo we went to Duff''s for wings and such.  It was very good, just was expecting more.

Wednesday is Bike Night!

Full Moon when we were leaving.

So it was time to head for the border.

Buffalo Skyline at night!

Oh Canada.

We crossed at the Peace Bridge and the border officer greeted us in French and after checking us out we were in Canada!  We were in our hotel around 9pm and started to settle in for the night.  We needed a good night rest for our adventure the next day!

Stay tuned.

Summer Vacation: Day 10, Heading Home.

Sunday would be a long day of travel as we would make the trek home in one day.  Still shorter than driving from Marquette. We had breakfast and started to pack up.  I had put the bikes on the van Saturday evening while the grill was heating up and loaded a few things up.  We managed to get on the around just a few minutes after 12:00pm.   Michelle would take the first leg of the drive at the wheel of the van and I would rest.  We made a stop at a rest area in Manistique and I took a few photos. A lighthouse for Michelle.  A mouse in a tuxedo! We got back on the road and stopped at another rest area.   Very cool! Brendan made a friend. The were not to bad. Our next stop would be St. Ignace.  We wanted to eat at Clyde's Drive In.  However, after arriving the place was packed.  So we went to B.C. Pizza again.  After lunch we made our way to Castle Rock as we were not able to climb it on o...

End of Summer

The Best Time to Bike! On Saturday I traveled with Raymond to the Bear Claw Epic.  This was the second annual race and the second time up there for Raymond and I.  We got there with plenty of time to spare and got ready to go. Farley ready to go. I registered for Beginner Fat Bike or at least I thought so?  I felt pretty good and knowing that I only had one lap to do I went all out.  I passed several riders through the race and felt I did pretty good.  This course has a lot of climbing and rewards you with some nice downhills. After I finished my race I put on a fresh shirt and went out on the course with the camera and my new lens.  I took over 400 pictures and headed back to the start finish after Raymond finished his race. Raymond on his second lap. And the final climb. The beginner awards were going on and they announced my name as first place for Beginner Men 50-59.  I was surprised, but did not protest.  Aft...
