May Update

Hard to believe that this month is almost over.  It had been pretty wet and cold up until this weekend. Things are slowly starting to dry out and the weather is starting to be normal for this time of year.  We have two weeks to finish things up for JJ's graduation party.  Invitations have been sent, there is not turning back now.

We have painted the dining room, living room and kitchen.  Would still like to get the master bathroom done also.  Tomorrow I will start working more on the yard and garage.

We attended Honors Night last week.  JJ was Magna Cume Laude.  Very proud of him.  He finished his last day of school yesterday.

Magna Cume Laude!

Next week is his final Choir Concert and Commencement.  Last week the Choir went to State Festival.  They had the highest score by a choir ever.  Their instructor has been selected to do the State Honors Choir.  They are really awesome.

We celebrated Mother's Day as always.  We brought my mom out for the day on Saturday.  Then I put together the Mother's Day celebration for Michelle's family on Sunday.  We ordered Panda House so no one had to cook.  It was a good time.  Dawn and Reuben also move all there storage stuff out from our room above the garage.  That room is another project we would like to complete before the party.

I have not been on the bike in over a month now.  The break is good for the body to heal after all the health issues from this winter.  I will get back at it after the party.  Not sure if I will even do a race this year.  I do have a project started for the carbon 29er.  I purchased a set of 27.5 wheels with plus tires and will set that up next month.  Hopefully by the end of June I can get out for a trail ride.

 I give them a B+

Michelle came across a great deal on a new camera.  It is a used Nikon D51000.  It is in excellent shape and the price was right.  So the old Sony is on eBay now and looks like it will sell.  Plan on buying a lens for Sports Photography before the summer is up.  Hopefully I can go to a bike race and test it out.

I think that brings things up to date.  See you in June!

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather.  We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing.  I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River.  I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name.  I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us.  Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up.  I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi.  An invasive species of the Great Lakes. After a few minutes I started back to the house.  On the way I started to have some chest pain.  After showering it had not let up. ...

They come in several colors. These are red and will go on the wheels that I have on the Vortex.  They are light weight, easy to work with and very durable.  I have these in various colors on most of my fat bike wheels.   Topeak Joe Blow Fat Tire Pump:  Following is from the Topeak Website: JoeBlow™ Fat The first floor pump exclusively designed for low pressure fat tire bikes. Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence.  I got a short ride in on Friday morning.  We then were preparing for a wedding.  Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house.  Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography.  This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out.  It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends.   You may kiss the bride!   We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening.  We got home late and went right to bed.   I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France.  It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race.  I then ventured out on a 23 mile ride o...
