Another Busy Weekend

Friday afternoon came around and the weekend started.  Michelle went to Sam's Club and I went to Menard's.  I picked up a 10x20 pop up.  We will use it for Church Camp and other special events.  I made a quick stop at Walmart and was on my way home.  I made to mom and dad's in time to get Brendan off the bus.  We got home and Brendan did his homework.  We then had time to play (work)! I started laundry and was waiting for Michelle to get home.  Michelle called and JJ locked his keys in his truck.  I looked around and did not find them.  Michelle got home and we started to look again.  Michelle found the keys in a spot I had already checked.  So we made the decision to get JJ's keys out of his truck and eat at Bagger Dave's.

Good burger and a Two Hearted Ale!

After eating we went home and took it easy for the evening.

Saturday came and around noon I went out on a ride while Michelle and Brendan worked in the yard.
21 miles!

It was a good ride and the route that JJ and I will take on Monday and Tuesday for O2S training.  JJ seems to be fired up this year!  This is going to be fun!

After having a little lunch we headed for Millington to cut up a tree.  Dad, Micah and I went to Don and Donna's.  They had already taken down the Black Walnut tree.  We just needed to cut it up and load it.  It filled both of our trucks and after a short visit we were on our way home.  I got home just in time to say goodbye to Michelle and Brendan who were on their way to Meijer.  I went out and cut the grass, then went over some of it again to bag it.  I weed wacked and then was going in for the night.  I checked my phone and Michelle had called.  I called her and she asked me to start the grill.  I started the grill and started to cook hot dogs and supper.  Michelle got home, we ate and we were done for the night.

After a good night sleep Sunday was here.  We got things ready for church, which included Michelle making Sloppy Joe's and the hot dogs in a crock pot.  We were having servant Sunday and the kids served the adults lunch after service.  We fed the entire church and had leftovers.  We got home and I continued to work on laundry (still behind from last weekend).  Kayla came over to wait for JJ to get home from work.  Michelle and JJ went into town and I took a little time in the bike shop.
New fork on Farley!

First order of business was to put the carbon fork on the Farley.  I pulled the stock fork off the bike and did my measurements.  I cut the new fork down and cleaned up the edges.  I did the installation and definitely saved some weight. The only concern I have is that there are no inserts for the dropouts.  It is just the carbon.  Time will tell how that works out?  So I weighed it using the bathroom scale method and came up with 30 pounds.  Later Michelle surprised me with and early Father's Day present.  A luggage scale!  I weighed the bike again and came up with 28.26 pounds.  Pretty good for a Fat Bike!

Next project was to move the TV from the basement to our bedroom and the TV from the bedroom to the basement.  I almost had this done before Michelle got back home.  We got that done and moved the computer desk from the master bedroom to our room and got the TV connected.

I then set up JJ's bike with the old Garmin and started the grill.  We had dinner and then I went out and planted Michelle's Cherry tree.  After that was done I headed inside for the night.

So it is back to work tomorrow to get some rest!

End of Summer

The Best Time to Bike! On Saturday I traveled with Raymond to the Bear Claw Epic.  This was the second annual race and the second time up there for Raymond and I.  We got there with plenty of time to spare and got ready to go. Farley ready to go. I registered for Beginner Fat Bike or at least I thought so?  I felt pretty good and knowing that I only had one lap to do I went all out.  I passed several riders through the race and felt I did pretty good.  This course has a lot of climbing and rewards you with some nice downhills. After I finished my race I put on a fresh shirt and went out on the course with the camera and my new lens.  I took over 400 pictures and headed back to the start finish after Raymond finished his race. Raymond on his second lap. And the final climb. The beginner awards were going on and they announced my name as first place for Beginner Men 50-59.  I was surprised, but did not protest.  Aft...

Summer Vacation: Day 10, Heading Home.

Sunday would be a long day of travel as we would make the trek home in one day.  Still shorter than driving from Marquette. We had breakfast and started to pack up.  I had put the bikes on the van Saturday evening while the grill was heating up and loaded a few things up.  We managed to get on the around just a few minutes after 12:00pm.   Michelle would take the first leg of the drive at the wheel of the van and I would rest.  We made a stop at a rest area in Manistique and I took a few photos. A lighthouse for Michelle.  A mouse in a tuxedo! We got back on the road and stopped at another rest area.   Very cool! Brendan made a friend. The were not to bad. Our next stop would be St. Ignace.  We wanted to eat at Clyde's Drive In.  However, after arriving the place was packed.  So we went to B.C. Pizza again.  After lunch we made our way to Castle Rock as we were not able to climb it on o...
