The Weekend and the Week(s) Ahead

As always we had a busy weekend. Michelle took Friday off and started on the updating of Brendan's bedroom.  She started to paint the room and I put in his new light after I got.  I also started on laundry.  Saturday morning came early and Michelle and Brendan headed for Clio for the Clio cleanup.  The church participates every year and the kids from the church that help out get $10 in quarters at church camp for the arcade.  They get pizza after working for lunch also.  Brendan then went to Kids Storm at the Bible Baptist Church with grandma.

I stayed home and waited for Sears to show up and work on the wood chipper.  They got here close to 12:00pm.  We thought we blew the engine on it.  The repairman worked on it and it is running again.  Good thing we got the extended warranty!  This is going to help us get the yard cleaned up.  Speaking of the I worked in the yard and then we headed to Clio.

We went to the Black Horse Tavern for a benefit dinner for the Clio Rotary Club.  Michelle participated in the silent auction and did very good!  We got home and mom came and got Brendan to stay the night at her house.  MacKenzie also stayed there.  They were going to church with them and then to the final day of Kids Storm.  Michelle and I got to bed early.

We seen this guy by Dairy Queen.

We had a nice breakfast Sunday morning and then went to church.  We went to Dairy Queen after church and used a coupon that Michelle won in the silent auction the night before.

We then went to Menards and bought some perennials and strawberry plants.  After getting home Michelle worked for a while in Brendan's room and I worked outside again.  I got more of the yard cleaned up and some more old wood burned.  We want to get all the brush from my old house cleaned up so we can set up the pool this year.  Michelle came out and we got the plants in the ground.

I need to pull the deck off the lawn tractor, pull and replace the blades.  Hoping to cut the lawn for the first time on Friday.  Want things to look good for Mothers Day.

While at work on Friday Michelle texted me to ask if I ordered something from China?  I had and it came really early.
This was waiting for me when I got home.

This is a carbon fat bike fork that will go on the Farley.  The geometry is the same as the Salsa Makawa and should be a perfect light weight fork for the bike.  Hopefully I can get it installed this week and the tires changed out for training.

JJ and I will be starting our Ore to Shore training this week also.

Next post will either be on the Farley upgrade or Mothers Day. Stay tuned.

Summer Vacation: Day 10, Heading Home.

Sunday would be a long day of travel as we would make the trek home in one day.  Still shorter than driving from Marquette. We had breakfast and started to pack up.  I had put the bikes on the van Saturday evening while the grill was heating up and loaded a few things up.  We managed to get on the around just a few minutes after 12:00pm.   Michelle would take the first leg of the drive at the wheel of the van and I would rest.  We made a stop at a rest area in Manistique and I took a few photos. A lighthouse for Michelle.  A mouse in a tuxedo! We got back on the road and stopped at another rest area.   Very cool! Brendan made a friend. The were not to bad. Our next stop would be St. Ignace.  We wanted to eat at Clyde's Drive In.  However, after arriving the place was packed.  So we went to B.C. Pizza again.  After lunch we made our way to Castle Rock as we were not able to climb it on o...

Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence.  I got a short ride in on Friday morning.  We then were preparing for a wedding.  Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house.  Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography.  This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out.  It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends.   You may kiss the bride!   We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening.  We got home late and went right to bed.   I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France.  It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race.  I then ventured out on a 23 mile ride o...

Brendan's Last Birthday Party

So today we had another party for Brendan's Birthday.  We also celebrated MacKenzie's birthday today (hers was yesterday).  We had Michelle's parents here also.  This was about the 6th birthday celebration for Brendan.  Michelle made some really cool cakes for the two of them.   Brendan's Turtle Cake     Mackenzie's Owl Cake   Everyone arrived and we had a great meal and watched the Michigan/Michigan State game.  Very close game with Michigan pulling out the win in the last seconds.  There was cake and ice cream and the traditional Happy Birthday song.
