Merry Christmas

It is the day after Christmas and all through the house, not a creature is sturring.  Well, except for me.  So it is a good time to get caught up on things here.  The Christmas stress is done and now preparing for the New Year.  This was our fourth Christmas together.  It is hard to believe, but time does fly when you are having fun!

Thursday was our Christmas Party at Church.  We had a short praise and worship, some readings by Scott and music by Jay Jay, Sam, Dean and Scott.  This was followed by dinner and some fun games.

Pastor Reuben excited about his presents!

Michelle and Faye.

We started our Christmas Saturday with A church service at the Burt Methodist Church.  A very short, but very nice service by Pastor Schroeder.  This is the first time I have heard him deliver a message.  He is very good.  After the service we went to Dawn's to have the family Christmas.  Finger food and desert were served.  Mom brought the traditional Christmas movie with her.  We question her choice, Madea's Christmas by Tyler  Perry.  Unusual, yet entertaining and with a good message.

Scott can't believe what Jay Jay received!

Don't worry, there is a present for you Micah.

Brendan and his Batplane.

So the party ended and everyone headed home for the night.  It was a long evening with a lot of fun with the family.  We got the boys settled in for the night and went to work preparing for Santa's arrival.  We got to bed very late with hopes that the boys would not be up to early.

Christmas morning arrived and Michelle woke up before me.  Jay Jay was the first to wakeup and he then got Brendan out of bed.  Brendan passed out all the presents and the fun begain.    A half hour later the presents were all opened and assembly and clean up began.  Then the preparation for mom and dad's arrival.  They showed and settled in.

We had our traditional Christmas Panda House feast complimented by our homemade egg rolls.  A very nice dinner and time spent with mom and dad.  They left in the middle of the afternoon and we took a short nap.  Then over to Michelle's mom and dad's for more fun and presents.  We got to visit with grandpa for a while too.  This was our first Christmas without grandma.  We got home late and did a few things before getting the boys to bed.  Michelle and I stayed up for some quiet time and got to bed by midnight.  A very fun, exciting and memorable Christmas!

End of Summer

The Best Time to Bike! On Saturday I traveled with Raymond to the Bear Claw Epic.  This was the second annual race and the second time up there for Raymond and I.  We got there with plenty of time to spare and got ready to go. Farley ready to go. I registered for Beginner Fat Bike or at least I thought so?  I felt pretty good and knowing that I only had one lap to do I went all out.  I passed several riders through the race and felt I did pretty good.  This course has a lot of climbing and rewards you with some nice downhills. After I finished my race I put on a fresh shirt and went out on the course with the camera and my new lens.  I took over 400 pictures and headed back to the start finish after Raymond finished his race. Raymond on his second lap. And the final climb. The beginner awards were going on and they announced my name as first place for Beginner Men 50-59.  I was surprised, but did not protest.  Aft...

Summer Vacation: Day 10, Heading Home.

Sunday would be a long day of travel as we would make the trek home in one day.  Still shorter than driving from Marquette. We had breakfast and started to pack up.  I had put the bikes on the van Saturday evening while the grill was heating up and loaded a few things up.  We managed to get on the around just a few minutes after 12:00pm.   Michelle would take the first leg of the drive at the wheel of the van and I would rest.  We made a stop at a rest area in Manistique and I took a few photos. A lighthouse for Michelle.  A mouse in a tuxedo! We got back on the road and stopped at another rest area.   Very cool! Brendan made a friend. The were not to bad. Our next stop would be St. Ignace.  We wanted to eat at Clyde's Drive In.  However, after arriving the place was packed.  So we went to B.C. Pizza again.  After lunch we made our way to Castle Rock as we were not able to climb it on o...
