Family Christmas Party

Today was the annual Christmas Party that is held at Michelle's aunt's house.  Aunt Sandy and Uncle Don are wonderful hosts and put on a great party.  The meal was all the tacos you can eat (beef, chix, shrimp, etc.), chicken strips and a variety of salads and drink.  It is the one time of the year that I will have a couple of Corona's with lime, very good.

This party is really about the kids and Michelle's mom and her sisters getting together.  Unfortunately two of the sisters (Cindy and Sue) were not able to make it.  It was the first year with out their mother (GG/Arlene), she was missed by all of us.  Earlier this year she lost her battle with cancer.  We all had fun just as GG would have wanted.

OOPS!  Almost forgot mom's birthday.  December 7, 2011.  60 years old.

Buffet at Don and Sandie's.

Opening presents!

We had great time with our family.

Tomorrow brings another busy day.  We start with church in the morning.  The ladies are having a luncheon afterward to celebrate Christmas and the guys will be having pizza and watching football while the kids play video games.  That evening is the Christmas program at the Burt Methodist Church led by Michelle's mom and the boys will both be participating.

Look for another report tomorrow night.

End of Summer

The Best Time to Bike! On Saturday I traveled with Raymond to the Bear Claw Epic.  This was the second annual race and the second time up there for Raymond and I.  We got there with plenty of time to spare and got ready to go. Farley ready to go. I registered for Beginner Fat Bike or at least I thought so?  I felt pretty good and knowing that I only had one lap to do I went all out.  I passed several riders through the race and felt I did pretty good.  This course has a lot of climbing and rewards you with some nice downhills. After I finished my race I put on a fresh shirt and went out on the course with the camera and my new lens.  I took over 400 pictures and headed back to the start finish after Raymond finished his race. Raymond on his second lap. And the final climb. The beginner awards were going on and they announced my name as first place for Beginner Men 50-59.  I was surprised, but did not protest.  Aft...

Summer Vacation: Day 10, Heading Home.

Sunday would be a long day of travel as we would make the trek home in one day.  Still shorter than driving from Marquette. We had breakfast and started to pack up.  I had put the bikes on the van Saturday evening while the grill was heating up and loaded a few things up.  We managed to get on the around just a few minutes after 12:00pm.   Michelle would take the first leg of the drive at the wheel of the van and I would rest.  We made a stop at a rest area in Manistique and I took a few photos. A lighthouse for Michelle.  A mouse in a tuxedo! We got back on the road and stopped at another rest area.   Very cool! Brendan made a friend. The were not to bad. Our next stop would be St. Ignace.  We wanted to eat at Clyde's Drive In.  However, after arriving the place was packed.  So we went to B.C. Pizza again.  After lunch we made our way to Castle Rock as we were not able to climb it on o...
