Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Christmas has passed and today is New Year Eve.  A lot has happened this past year and I am excited for the New Year!  Christmas was nice this year.  We were not sure if my mom was even going to come out until our Thursday visit before Christmas.  Jay Jay had to work on the holiday and the eve so I picked mom up at 9:30am on Christmas Eve so she could get to see him.  She ended up spending the entire day with us.  We had a nice brunch before Jay Jay left for work and mom enjoyed her time with us and the kitty's.

She was happy to be here!

Spending time with Esther.

Opening presents.

Time with the boys.

Hoping to get some homemade chicken noodle soup.

We took mom home around 5pm and I went into work for around an hour.  Michelle and Brendan picked me up on their way back.  We stopped at McDonald's and had something to eat and then headed home.  Jay Jay was home before us and we watched Christmas Vacation before turning in for the night.  Brendan did not want to go to bed and we were concerned that he would be up very early on Christmas Day.  We managed to get him in bed and then we brought the presents up and put them under and around the tree.

I was the first one up Christmas morning.  I brewed coffee and got a fire started.  I was up for over an hour before Michelle got up.  We exchanged a couple presents and then woke the boys up. We opened presents, had breakfast and then went to church for the Christmas service.

Pikachu!

The kitty's like Christmas!

Pastor had a wonderful Christmas message and after church we came home and took a nap.  I got up after about an hour.  Michelle had prepared lasagna a week or more before Christmas and froze.  I put that in the oven and we were at mom and dads shortly after 5pm.  We had a nice meal with the family and left somewhere around 8:30pm.

We had a nice quiet evening after getting home and a nice Christmas with our family.

See you all in the New Year!

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather.  We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing.  I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River.  I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name.  I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us.  Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up.  I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi.  An invasive species of the Great Lakes. After a few minutes I started back to the house.  On the way I started to have some chest pain.  After showering it had not let up. ...

Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence.  I got a short ride in on Friday morning.  We then were preparing for a wedding.  Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house.  Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography.  This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out.  It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends.   You may kiss the bride!   We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening.  We got home late and went right to bed.   I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France.  It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race.  I then ventured out on a 23 mile ride o...
