Operation Snowpack Complete

Between early this morning and early evening I completed the process of putting the Snowpack Fork on the Green Machine.   Work completed.   With the job done I took the bike out for a short ride.  Mostly pavement with a little gravel and some off road at the Taymouth Township park.  It felt good.  Did seem to ride smoother than the factory aluminum fork.   Looking good!   The 1x10 drive train seems to work well. Just need to get it out for a real test one of these days.

Snowpack

I had to leave work early today due to a dentist appointment.  I am having a crown replaced.  When I arrived home I found this on the porch.   A package for me!     And it contained this!   White Brothers Snowpack Carbon Fat Bike Fork.   So I pulled the factory fork off the Green Machine.  Waiting for the new fork.   I was surprised to find that the new fork does not appear to weigh much less than the factory fork.  However, I believe it will provide a better ride.  It is also 20mm shorter than the factory fork.  This should make the head tube angle about 1 degree steeper and possibly speed up the steering.   I still have to cut the steer tube down a little bit.  Don't want to take to much off in case the fork may go onto another bike at some time?   Stay tuned for the final results.

Sunday Funday!

Michelle and I were still not feeling the best when we got up this morning.  I needed to go to Begick's Nursery to pick up bark for mom and deliver it to her house (a project we have been working on there).  Still was having a hard time with my body temperature.  I was either really hot or really cold on the way there.  The rain was supposed to hold off till afternoon but decided to come early.  Begick's was great and loaded the bark for me and when I got to mom's I was able to pull the truck in the garage and unload. I had a nice visit with mom and headed home.   Michelle ordered take out at Pando House and I picked it up on the way home.  We had a nice meal when I got home and then Michelle took a nap.  I worked on some laundry and then headed for the basement.  I had been working on a friends bike and was able to finish that.  Then it was time to clean up the bike shop.  I got the cleaning done and then did some more photos ...

Another Bike Done

This has been a tough week.  Very busy at work and I could feel a cold coming on at the start of the week.  It hit me hard on Wednesday and I ran a bit of a fever until Friday afternoon.  Missed two days of work and felt miserable.  Actually starting to feel normal as I write this.  First time in three days.   I did manage to finish JJ's old bike today.   Done and hung up.   So all the bikes have been cleaned up and updated after Ore to Shore.  Only took a month and a half.  Have some parts listed on eBay and a few more waiting in the wings.  Also trying to sell the tandem.   While setting around Friday afternoon I did an eBay search and found a great deal on a White Brothers Snowpack Carbon Fat Bike fork.  It should be here by Tuesday.  Just a couple scratches on one of the fork legs.  The Green Machine is going to love this upgrade!   So get on your bike and ride.

Michelle's Bike and more!

After church on Sunday I got the lawn done and helped Michelle put some more plants in the ground. I then went down to the bike shop and finished her bike. Most of the bike was already together. I had to put on the cables and housings for the shifters and brakes.  I made a few adjustments and it was set. I then had Michelle come down so I could adjust the seat height and put the grips on.  It is ready to go. The next bike up is JJ's old Orange bike which Kayla now rides.  Only need to switch out the shifters and rear derailleur on this one.     Ready to start.   I cleaned the chain and removed it.  I then removed the shifters and rear derailleur.  The new shifters and derailleur went on.     Feeling like I am getting Brendan's cold so I am calling it a night.

Fall is Here

We had some hot weather the first few days of September.  Was looking more like summer than it had in August.  Then the rain came in and we were treated to a cold front.  It has not been much over 60 degrees for the past several days.  Looks like it will stay this way till next weekend. I was the second one up Saturday morning.  Brendan was up before me, he had been sick. But that doesn't slow him down much.  I decided to get some work done in the bike shop.  After Ore 2 Shore we made some bike decisions.  Michelle's bike frame was sold.  This was my old race bike a Giant NRS from the mid 90's.  Very nice bike, just getting old.  JJ really wants to do the Soft Rock next year and I will be sticking with Fat Bikes.  So I decided to give him my carbon 29er.  The wheels and tires stay with (Specialized DT Swiss wheels/Kenda Karma 29x2.2 tires).  I moved my drivetrain from the carbon bike to the Fat Bike.  Then...
