Merry Christmas

Once again Christmas was the busiest time of year yet very fun and rewarding.  We had Christmas Eve with Michelle's family here at the house.  We went to church at the Burt Methodist Church and they had a very nice service.  We then came back to the house where we had Panda House food warming in the oven.  The family arrived and we had a nice meal together and fellowship.  The kids got to open a few presents also.

I was surprised that no one stayed late.  Everyone was gone by 10pm and we got the boys in bed so that Santa could arrive.  We were up till about 1:00am and got to bed.

So Christmas Day arrive early as Brendan woke us at 3:00am.  We sent him back to bed and he woke us at 5:00am.  Again we sent him back to bed.  He came down again at 7:15am and we got up.  We started coffee and a fire while Brendan woke up JJ.  We opened presents and had a good time.

Michelle and I then started to prepare for my mom and dad's arrival.  Before we knew it they were here and we had a nice brunch.  Then it was time for more presents.

Mom and Dad left and it was time for Michelle and I to take a nap.  We were woke up by the phone and it was time to go to Michelle's parents house for supper.  They made a ham and turkey and the whole family was there.  We stuffed ourselves again and then retreated to the family room where the kids opened more presents.

It was a long and fun day for all of us.  The kids wanted to spend the night at Grandma's so we headed home.  About 11:15pm Brendan called and his missed his mom and dad so Michelle brought him home.  We put him to bed and we followed shortly after.  A very memorable Christmas.

Praise the Lord, Happy Birthday Jesus!

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather.  We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing.  I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River.  I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name.  I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us.  Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up.  I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi.  An invasive species of the Great Lakes. After a few minutes I started back to the house.  On the way I started to have some chest pain.  After showering it had not let up. ...

Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence.  I got a short ride in on Friday morning.  We then were preparing for a wedding.  Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house.  Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography.  This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out.  It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends.   You may kiss the bride!   We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening.  We got home late and went right to bed.   I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France.  It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race.  I then ventured out on a 23 mile ride o...
