Fall 2011 Update

A lot has happened since our last post and want to bring things up to date.  I will post photos after we get home and get a little more organized. We are currently at Crystal Mountain having done the Peak 2 Peak Mountain bike race.  We will be leaving this morning for home.

Soccer season started back up in September for the boys.  JJ's team is again coed and they are playing well.  They  have really made progress since the spring season.  Brendan is now in U6 and doing well, he likes practice more than his games.

On September 11 we went to Addison Oaks County Park and raced their Fall Classic Mountain Bike race.  Everyone had a great time.  JJ took third place in his race.  It was around 7 miles long, the longest he had done to that point.  They had barbecue pulled pork sandwiches, etc.  It was a lot of fun.

Brendan turned 6 on October 10 and had a party at Chuck E Cheese.  My parents came and joined in the festivities.  Never thought I would see them there.  It was a small party, but Brendan had a great time.  I really like the pizza!

So that brings us here to Crystal Mountain.  We got here on Friday afternoon.  It was raining most of the way up and did stop briefly when I pre rode the course.  A really fun course, the most difficult part is the last two miles.

Summer Vacation: Day 10, Heading Home.

Sunday would be a long day of travel as we would make the trek home in one day.  Still shorter than driving from Marquette. We had breakfast and started to pack up.  I had put the bikes on the van Saturday evening while the grill was heating up and loaded a few things up.  We managed to get on the around just a few minutes after 12:00pm.   Michelle would take the first leg of the drive at the wheel of the van and I would rest.  We made a stop at a rest area in Manistique and I took a few photos. A lighthouse for Michelle.  A mouse in a tuxedo! We got back on the road and stopped at another rest area.   Very cool! Brendan made a friend. The were not to bad. Our next stop would be St. Ignace.  We wanted to eat at Clyde's Drive In.  However, after arriving the place was packed.  So we went to B.C. Pizza again.  After lunch we made our way to Castle Rock as we were not able to climb it on o...

Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence.  I got a short ride in on Friday morning.  We then were preparing for a wedding.  Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house.  Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography.  This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out.  It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends.   You may kiss the bride!   We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening.  We got home late and went right to bed.   I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France.  It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race.  I then ventured out on a 23 mile ride o...

Brendan's Last Birthday Party

So today we had another party for Brendan's Birthday.  We also celebrated MacKenzie's birthday today (hers was yesterday).  We had Michelle's parents here also.  This was about the 6th birthday celebration for Brendan.  Michelle made some really cool cakes for the two of them.   Brendan's Turtle Cake     Mackenzie's Owl Cake   Everyone arrived and we had a great meal and watched the Michigan/Michigan State game.  Very close game with Michigan pulling out the win in the last seconds.  There was cake and ice cream and the traditional Happy Birthday song.
