Into the New Year

We had thought about having a New Year Party this year and then decided not to do it.  Good thing, Michelle was not feeling well.  I watched football most of the day on New Year Eve.

Party Animals showed up for New Year!

I did not get much sleep the night before and barely made it to 10:30.  Michelle and Brendan made it till midnight.

Michelle took it easy on New Year Day and I started to build her new work shop in the basement.  I managed to get it all framed in.

We took Monday off and again I watched football and we had Michelle's mom and dad and Micah over for dinner.  We had Prime Rib and a good time.  The Rose Bowl was the best bowl of this season!

On The Bike Front:

On Saturday I got the Farley back together.  I put a carbon fork on it and had to put a rear brake cable on.  Still need a longer cable, but this will work until that happens.

Farley is ready to roll.

I rode the Farley on Monday around town and at the local park.  Having an issue with the compression cap for the fork.  I ordered a different one over the weekend and will see it that makes a difference.  In case you were wondering I still have the Bluto and it will still be used!

Over the past couple of years I have sold several bikes and reduced the fleet considerably.  I now have three of my own.  The Farley here, Sarma Vortex fat bike and the Gravity Zilla Monster Cross/Gravel bike.

I am waiting for something to arrive and then I will talk about one of the plans I have for one of these bikes.

I hope to do more blogging this year than I have over the past year.  Should be more interesting things going on this year.

Have a great year everyone!

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather.  We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing.  I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River.  I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name.  I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us.  Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up.  I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi.  An invasive species of the Great Lakes. After a few minutes I started back to the house.  On the way I started to have some chest pain.  After showering it had not let up. ...

Independence Day

Another busy weekend and celebration of our country's independence.  I got a short ride in on Friday morning.  We then were preparing for a wedding.  Barb and Steve, a couple at our church were getting married and the ceremony/reception would be at Dawn and Reuben's house.  Reuben performed the ceremony and I was asked to do the photography.  This worked out great as I had purchased a used Sony DSLR camera on eBay and got to test it out.  It was a very nice ceremony and celebration with our church family and friends.   You may kiss the bride!   We then stuck around and all of us went to the fireworks at the Clio Park to cap off the evening.  We got home late and went right to bed.   I slept in a bit on Saturday morning and got up to watch the start of the Tour de France.  It was a good stage with a sprint finish and a bad crash that took Mark Cavendish out of the race.  I then ventured out on a 23 mile ride o...
