A Happy Easter

Our Easter celebration started on Saturday with mom coming out for the day.  Michelle and I were up early and started working.  I left for mom's around 10:00am to pick her up.  The ride was good and we were here at the house by 12:00pm.

Brendan was really excited to see mom.  He knew they would be doing their annual egg decorating.

Mom's eggs!

Kitty Kisses!

We all had a good day and a great meal.  Michelle and I took mom home and returned for a little R&R.  We got Brendan to bed and then the Easter Bunnies went to work.

Sunday morning came and the Easter Bunny hid Brendan's basket.  Brendan got up and found it after a short search.  We had some breakfast and then went to church.  After church we returned home to do some cooking and headed to Michelle's mom and dad's house.

It took some time for dinner to get on the table at mom and dad's.  After dinner the annual Easter Egg Hunt took place.  Brendan and MacKenzie had a lot of fun.  I think we all did.

We had some good conversation after the hunt and headed home some time after 7:00pm.

It was a very nice weekend with great weather.  Thank you Jesus for the great day and eternal life!

Summer Vacation Day 4: The ER

Day four started out with beautiful weather.  We had breakfast and Michelle took Brendan fishing.  I decided I would take a ride on the bike and do a little recon for a family bike ride. I set off east to ride toward Rapid River.  I rode around the the edge of the bay and took a few pictures. Dunes on the edge of Gladstone. This was around 4-5 miles out of town in a small subdivision. The photo above is of a small river I crossed, unfortunately I cannot remember the name.  I thought I found a bike trail that would be nice for all of us.  Unfortunately it was swampy and not kept up.  I headed back to Gladstone and met Michelle and Brendan out on the fishing dock. I sat with them for a while and Brendan caught this. This is a Gobi.  An invasive species of the Great Lakes. After a few minutes I started back to the house.  On the way I started to have some chest pain.  After showering it had not let up. ...

Summer Vacation: Day 8, Marquette

Day out started out cool, cloudy and windy.  It would stay like that the entire day.  After Michelle got up we took a little walk in the park by the bay.  It was very cool and returned to the house.  The plan for the day was to go to Marquette to visit Raymond and his family and have dinner with them. I received a text from Raymond that informed me the weather was not good there and it had not been for the entire week.  It had been very cold and windy.  He told me to bring warm clothes and we would probably be inside. We arrived at there location just after 3:00pm and it was cold and windy.  They told us it had been worse earlier in the day.  After talking for a while Angel started to make burgers and hot dogs on the grill.  We walked down to the beach with Raymond to discover that the beach was not really there.  The water has been so high this year and the waves were coming in so hard there was no beach.  They said they h...

Another Set Back

I had decided to not do the Rust Shaker as I was coming down with a cold or at least thought so.  The following Thursday (a week after the symptoms first appeared) I felt that I was loosing my voice.  Things were not getting better and my wife thought something was not right just by looking at me.  I also felt that something was not right.  I called my Dr. and got in that morning.  The Dr. checked me over and I was diagnosed with Pneumonia.  He put me on antibiotics and also prescribed some cough medicine. I am feeling better, however this is a huge setback in my fitness.  I will stay off the bike till after Mother's Day.  This means I will not be doing the Island Lake XC race this month.  Will need to build some fitness back up again.  Should not take long.  I will be looking at events in June to get me back on track for Ore to Shore.  Given the events of this year I will be doing the Shore Rock again.  This will ...
