Vacation 2016, Day 6. On the Road Again!

After a good night sleep, some coffee and a little more review of photos we were packed up and ready to hit the road.  We had close to 5 hours of travel ahead of us.  I knew that meant close to 8 hours after making stops. The roads in Canada were very nice and there was a great deal of road construction (much like Michigan).  It was not to difficult to navigate and we were well on our way to our first stop.  Right away Michelle spied a large body of water that we determined to be Lake Ontario.  The last lake in the chain of the Great Lakes.  So we detoured off the interstate and made a stop.  We had lunch at Subway then went to a Marina to check out the lake. This old ship is by the marina.  It was once a floating restaurant and was going to be revived until someone set it on fire.  It now just sets here abandoned and rusting. A Sad Morning, Good Bye to an old Friend

I woke up this morning to find that our oldest cat Angel had passed.  I had her for a long time.  I did some math and we estimate her age to be 22 years.  She had a long and good life!  When I got her I was able to hold her in the palm of my hand and had to bottle feed her.  When Michelle and I got together Angel came along and blended in well.  As she aged she got a little grumpy and was not very tolerant of the other cats, but she did enjoy our attention.  She always loved climbing in cupboards and finding that safe place that she could claim. One of Angel's favorite spots! I am so glad that I was given the time I had with her and was able to care for her.  She brought a lot into our lives and we will miss her.  Good bye my friend, you will never be forgotten. We Love You!

Vacation 2016, Day 5

Got a little behind here with downloading photos and our last travel day.  So going to catch up over the next couple days.  When I wrap up with the final day I will also give out some  of my opinion on the venues we were at.  Day 5 (Thursday) was definitely the best day of our vacation.  Michelle, Brenda and I were the first ones up and we went down to iHop, which was in the lobby of the hotel.  We quickly discovered how expensive it is to eat in Canada.  Breakfast was very good, however seemed to be twice as much as we would spend at home.  We took our leftovers back to the rooms and Jay Jay and Kayla ate, then we headed out. Walking from the hotel the falls were only 10-15 minutes away.  The city of Niagara Falls, Canada is very nice, the sun was out and the temperature was perfect.  Great weather for a walk around town. This was my first time to the falls and they are just incredible!  I took many photos and am going to post s...

Vacation 2016, Days 3 and 4

Day 3 was very uneventful.  We spent the entire day at the Resort.  Spent the first part of the day by the outdoor pool.  The second half was spent in the arcade (read that as kid Casino!).  We got to bed at a decent time so we could get on the road the next day. Day 4 was mostly travel.  We had a light breakfast in the room and then packed to head out.  We stopped at a rest area that had a scenic view. Very steep cliff down to the river bottom. We got back on the road and soon we were on the highway through Cleveland.  First time that I seen this. Heavy traffic through downtown and shortly after getting out of town we stopped and had a quick lunch at Burger King.  We got back on the road and Michelle took one of her famous vacation road trip maps. Everyone but me missed this! And this! We were soon into New York and stopped at a Travel Center to stretch our legs.  We then headed for downtown Buffalo and...

Vacation 2016, Day 2

We got a late start to our day and had pizza delivered to the room for breakfast and lunch. The weather was questionable so we headed over to the zoo.  For a small zoo it was very nice. Stingray Petting Stingray Nurse Shark The rest of the day was spent in the water park and arcade.  We had late night dinner at Applebees and then returned to our room for the night.  The room here is very nice.  We actually have two connecting rooms.  Ours is a suite with a King Bedroom and full kitchen.  The other is two queen beds and both have balcony's. The entire complex is huge!  Starting to get to know my way around without thinking about it.  Below are a couple of pictures of the outdoor water park, adventure park and zoo.  This is in the courtyard between the buildings. ...
