A Happy Easter

Our Easter celebration started on Saturday with mom coming out for the day.  Michelle and I were up early and started working.  I left for mom's around 10:00am to pick her up.  The ride was good and we were here at the house by 12:00pm. Brendan was really excited to see mom.  He knew they would be doing their annual egg decorating. Mom's eggs! Kitty Kisses! We all had a good day and a great meal.  Michelle and I took mom home and returned for a little R&R.  We got Brendan to bed and then the Easter Bunnies went to work. Sunday morning came and the Easter Bunny hid Brendan's basket.  Brendan got up and found it after a short search.  We had some breakfast and then went to church.  After church we returned home to do some cooking and headed to Michelle's mom and dad's house. It took some time for dinner to get on the table at mom and dad's.  After dinner the annual Easter Egg Hunt took place.  Brendan an...

Vortex Finished

In my last post I showed a 36 tooth chain ring that I was going to put on the Vortex.  I had to do a little filing to get it to fit on the crank.  Once installed the teeth were a little to close to the chain stays for my comfort.  I ordered a 34 tooth ring to go in place of this.  The ring should be in on Monday and then I will have the bike set for summer gravel riding. I did manage to finish the bike for snow riding.  Unfortunately between being sick and not much snow I did not get much riding in.  Here is a pictures of the completed build. Specs: 17" Sarma Vortex Frame: I am 6' and like a smaller frame, very comfortable. Carbon Cycle Carbon Fork with 150mm thru axle. Parts Update

This morning I received and update from the seller on the expander cog.  Sounds like they lost it in shipping and are sending a different one.  Plus it will be red.  Looks like I will be putting it on the Vortex after all.  Best part is the seller initiated the communication. When I checked the mail today I found a package for me.  It was the Gear King 36 tooth cog that I ordered for road use on the Vortex for the summer. Looks nice. Hoping it fits better than the 30 tooth that I recently installed? Temperature got well into the 50's today and should hit 60 or higher tomorrow.  Forecast is above 50 through the weekend! Maybe spring is here?

Another Crazy Week

The Weather:  The week started off as usual with work and a forecast for a few inches of snow on Tuesday.  By the Monday evening weather they said 4-6 inches of snow over Tuesday.  I got up Tuesday morning and turned on the news.  First thing I saw was a long listing of school closing, the boys did not have school.  When the weather came on they were now saying 7-9 inches of snow and the snow was already falling.  Michelle and I took the truck to work and that was a good thing.  Snow was coming down really heavy by mid afternoon.  It took us an hour to get home, usually takes 20-25 minutes.  We made our tracks into the driveway and we had at least 8 inches of snow.  I cleaned the driveway and another 4 inches fell by 10:00pm.  We got over a foot of snow in about 16 hours. Jay Jay's truck Wednesday morning! I worked on snow removal Wednesday evening and again on Friday when I got home.  In all I put around 4 hours in on...
