Winter Break Day 2

We got a good night sleep and woke to cold and snow.  We had a late breakfast and everyone went swimming.  I set out on a bike ride.  I took off on the back roads and they were very icy.  At a mile and a half in I went down hard on the ice.  The back wheel just went out from under me.  At least I know how to fall right and don't put my hand out.  I was recording the ride and have it on video.  I managed to cautiously work my way back to pavement and had a nice ride.  I rode to Pine River and out to the Saginaw Bay.  I followed the pine River and managed to get just over 11 miles in.  The only thing that got cold was my right foot.  I had the same issue in the race 2 weeks ago. We all met back at the modular for lunch and Micelle and I took a nap.  Our nap was ended when I got a couple calls from work.  We got up, got ready and went bowling in Standish. We all had a lot of fun.  When we got back it was time for ...

Winter Break Day One (1)

So the kids started winter break today, Friday, February 15, 2013.  We got out of work early, got home and started packing.  We took the boys, our nephew Scottie and their friends Kayla and Tyler.  There were too many people to put in the van to take one vehicle so we took the truck too.  Everything was packed to capacity in both vehicles.  We had decided last week to go to Outdoor Adventures in Standish. We got the largest modular they had which is like a house.  Everyone has their own bed and we actually have an extra.  There is not much going on at this camp ground this time of year.  Everyone is at the park in Davison.  We went to the club house and their were a few people in the pool.  The game room is really out of date and we are not sure the games even work.  We will be visiting Standish tomorrow. Club House   Game Room    We (Michelle) blew a breaker cooking supper.  But we got the fr...

LOHS Winter Race

Saturday, February 2, 2013 was the Lake Orion High School Winter Race.  This race was first held 10 years ago in 2003.  I did that race and it was below zero wind chills.  It was during my first year of racing.  I got up Saturday morning and it was cool in the house as usual.  I started a fire and checked the computer and checked the weather.  It was snowing.  I had some breakfast and finished getting my stuff together.  I was on the road with plenty of time to make it to the race.  I arrived close to an hour before race time and got dressed and hooked up with my friend Don Miller.   Don Miller ready to race.   I am ready too!     So we rolled up to the course and seen Steve Kinley who runs the races at LOHS.  He told us we had time to pre ride the course so we did.  This gave us an idea of how long a lap would take us and the course was in great shape.  I set a goal of 20 minutes or less ...
